In a tragic incident in Bauchi State, Nigeria, a 50-year-old businessman named Nuru Isah has been arrested for allegedly flogging his 24-year-old wife, Wasila Abdullahi, to death following a dispute over preparations for their Ramadan meal.
The altercation occurred on March 1, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., in their residence located in the Fadaman Mada area of Bauchi metropolis. The disagreement escalated into violence when Isah reportedly used a cane to strike Wasila, leading to her collapse and subsequent loss of consciousness.
Wasila was immediately transported to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), where medical personnel pronounced her dead upon arrival. The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed Isah’s arrest and has recovered the cane allegedly used in the assault as evidence.
The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident and has urged the public to report any cases of domestic violence. He emphasized the importance of maintaining respect and empathy within households to prevent such tragic occurrences.
