Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has announced his plans to shift his focus to music and filmmaking in 2025. In a recent interview with Pulse, Basketmouth shared his intentions to explore these creative avenues more seriously.
Basketmouth revealed that he initially pursued a career in music before transitioning to comedy. He described his entry into comedy as a fortunate accident, stating that he discovered his talent in comedy while he was still in primary school. After struggling to gain recognition in the music industry, he turned to comedy and eventually became successful.
In his words: “I’m going to take music more seriously in 2025. I want to create EPs because there are some artists I want to work with. I want to go into music and movies full-time. To be honest, movies are my first choice. I prioritize movies over comedy. It has always been like that; it’s just that I haven’t made the movie yet.”
Basketmouth expressed his desire to create EPs and collaborate with other artists. He also revealed plans to prioritize filmmaking, citing it as his first passion. He mentioned that he started with music but saw that it wasn’t going to work. After trying comedy, he realized it was the right path for him, and his career skyrocketed.
