Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr continues to gain international recognition, earning multiple nominations for the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards.
The Mavin Records star is nominated in four key categories: ‘Best African Act,’ ‘Best Push,’ ‘Best Afrobeats,’ and ‘Best New Artist.’
The prestigious event, marking its 30th edition, will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Co-op Live in Manchester, UK.
Ayra Starr’s rise to fame started in early 2021 with the release of her debut EP, which included the breakout single “Away.”
The track held the number four spot on Nigeria’s Turntable Top 50 chart for two consecutive weeks and reached a peak of number 17 on the Billboard Top Thriller Global chart. Ayra Starr’s debut album, 19 & Dangerous, released later in 2021, garnered widespread praise and delivered several hit singles, including “Bloody Samaritan,” which made history as the first solo song by a female artist to top Nigeria’s Top 50 chart.
