Assistant Comptroller of Customs Akpevwe Ogboru has made history as the first female officer of the Nigeria Customs Service to complete a solo motorbike journey from Nigeria to Belgium and back. The extraordinary 72-day adventure, which began on August 1, 2025, concluded on October 11, 2025, with a hero’s welcome at the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post2.

Ogboru’s journey spanned 22 countries across Africa and Europe, showcasing resilience, courage, and a spirit of exploration. She was received by senior Customs officers, including Comptroller Wale Adenuga and other Area Controllers from Zone A, who praised her for inspiring a new generation of women in uniform.

“It’s been 72 days in 22 countries, and I’m happy to be finally back. I just like to stay on the positive side of life. Every time I move, I move with positivity,” Ogboru said upon arrival.

Her feat has earned widespread admiration within the Service and beyond, symbolizing the power of determination and the breaking of gender barriers in law enforcement and adventure sports.
