Nigerian music star Wizkid has made history as the first African artist to surpass 20 billion global audio streams across on-demand platforms. The milestone was confirmed by ChartMasters, a global music data tracking group, which tallied streams from both Wizkid’s solo and featured tracks.
His most-streamed song remains ‘One Dance’, his 2016 global hit collaboration with Drake and Kyla, which boasts over 3.6 billion streams on Spotify alone. The track also holds a Guinness World Record for being the first song in Spotify history to cross 1 billion streams.
Wizkid previously made history in 2023 as the first African artist to receive the Brit Billion Award for surpassing 1 billion streams in the UK. He also holds the title of the best-selling Afrobeats artist of all time, with over 65 million units sold worldwide.
The achievement has sparked celebration across the Nigerian entertainment scene, with fans hailing him as “Big Wiz” and praising him for putting Afrobeats on the global map once again.
