In a recent interview, Nigerian singer and songwriter Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, shared his reasons for preferring to date foreign women over Nigerian women. Burna Boy, known for his hit songs and dynamic performances, did not hold back in expressing his views.
According to Burna Boy, he finds foreign women less demanding and more focused on love and attention rather than material needs. He stated, “I keep going for foreign women, even though they keep breaking my heart, because foreign women don’t stress me, they don’t ask for money, gifts, or anything. All they need from a man is love and attention.”
In contrast, Burna Boy described dating Nigerian women as a challenging experience. He claimed that Nigerian women often expect financial support and other material benefits from their partners. “But dating a Nigerian girl is like adopting an orphan. The moment you tell a Nigerian girl you love her, her house rent suddenly expires, she runs out of food stuffs, and everything she needs in life becomes your responsibility,” he said.
Burna Boy emphasized that he prefers to date strong and independent women, which he believes are harder to find in Nigeria. His comments have sparked a range of reactions from fans and the public, with some supporting his views and others criticizing him for generalizing Nigerian women.
