Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger who was accused of unruly behavior and assault aboard a flight, has been officially released following a court decision in Lagos. An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court struck out the five-count charge against her after the police withdrew the case, citing that both the complainant and the airline were no longer interested in pursuing it.
Emmanson had initially pleaded not guilty to charges that included disrupting peace on board, assaulting a crew member, and conduct capable of breaching public order. Her release was further supported by the Federal Government, which acknowledged her remorse and held consultations with aviation authorities.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Emmanson expressed gratitude to her supporters but revealed she is still in pain from the ordeal. She stated she needs rest and medical treatment before sharing her full account of the incident.
Interestingly, the lifetime flying ban imposed on her by the Airline Operators of Nigeria has also been lifted, and there are reports that she may even be considered for a role promoting good passenger conduct.
