President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has acknowledged the criticisms his administration has faced since assuming office but assured Nigerians that meaningful progress is being made. Speaking during an event in Abuja on Friday, Tinubu admitted that while his policies may not be popular with everyone, they are necessary for the long-term growth and stability of the country. He emphasized his commitment to laying a solid foundation for Nigeria’s future.
Addressing concerns over the removal of fuel subsidies and other controversial economic reforms, the President said, “I know some people may not like us right now, but we are making tough decisions for the benefit of this nation. Change is never easy, but it is essential if we want to achieve sustainable development.” He highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, education, and healthcare as part of his administration’s focus on national development.
Tinubu also stressed that his government is working to address the immediate challenges facing Nigerians, including inflation and rising living costs. He reassured citizens that relief measures, such as palliative programs and job creation initiatives, are being implemented to cushion the effects of these policies. “We are not blind to the struggles of our people, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that no one is left behind,” he added.
The President further called for unity and patience from Nigerians, urging them to see the bigger picture. He noted that transforming a country as diverse and complex as Nigeria requires collective effort and time. “We need to work together, irrespective of our differences, to build the Nigeria of our dreams,” Tinubu said, emphasizing that his administration’s focus is on inclusive growth and prosperity.
While his remarks have sparked mixed reactions, with critics questioning the impact of his policies on ordinary citizens, supporters argue that the reforms are necessary for Nigeria’s economic recovery. As the nation navigates through these challenging times, Tinubu reiterated his resolve to stay the course and deliver on his campaign promises.
