Tinubu Orders Striking Resident Doctors to Resume Work Immediately

0

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a directive to the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to ensure that members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) currently on strike resume work without delay.

The directive, issued on November 3, 2025, comes amid growing concerns over the impact of the ongoing strike on Nigeria’s healthcare system. Hospitals across the country have reported disruptions in service delivery, particularly in emergency and specialist care.

President Tinubu emphasized the critical role of resident doctors in the nation’s healthcare delivery and urged swift resolution of all outstanding issues. The Ministry has been tasked with engaging the striking doctors and implementing necessary measures to restore normalcy in public health institutions.

The NARD strike, which began in October, was triggered by demands for improved welfare, payment of salary arrears, and better working conditions.
