In a landmark moment for Nigeria’s industrial sector, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is set to commission the largest safety footwear manufacturing factory in West Africa, owned by Yikodeen Company Limited, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

Located in Isolo, Lagos, the newly expanded 120,000-square-foot facility boasts a production capacity of 5,000 pairs of safety boots per day, a staggering leap from the company’s humble beginnings in 2016, when it produced just 20 pairs daily.

The factory is equipped with cutting-edge European production lines, integrated manufacturing systems, and precision-based quality control technologies. It will produce a wide range of products, including industrial safety boots, instructional footwear, and the fast-growing Yiko Plus athletic shoe line.

Yikodeen’s Founder and CEO, Atunde Shamsideen Olayinka, described the commissioning as “a declaration of intent—a symbol of what is possible when visionary thinking, local talent, and long-term investment converge in the service of national development”.

The expansion is expected to inject over ₦5 billion annually into the Nigerian economy through local procurement, job creation, and regional supply chain engagement. Already, the company has added over 180 skilled roles, with plans to hire at least 20 more as operations scale.

The event will be graced by dignitaries including the Ooni of Ife, Olu of Warri, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe.

This commissioning not only marks a milestone for Yikodeen but also signals a bold step forward in Nigeria’s journey toward industrial self-reliance and local content development.
