Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has resurfaced a 2021 video in which Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan accused him of sexual harassment. Omokri shared this video on his social media platforms on March 8, 2025, following recent allegations by Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In the 2021 incident, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Omokri had propositioned her during a state banquet for Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on May 6, 2014. Omokri refuted these claims, providing evidence that he was not in Nigeria at the time. He offered a $50,000 reward for any proof of his presence at the event, presenting travel documents indicating he was abroad. Subsequently, Akpoti-Uduaghan deleted her accusations from her social media accounts.
Omokri’s decision to reshare the video comes amid Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent suspension from the Nigerian Senate after she accused Senate President Akpabio of sexual assault. The Senate’s Ethics Committee dismissed her allegations due to procedural violations, leading to her six-month suspension for alleged indiscipline.
By highlighting the previous false accusation, Omokri aims to question the credibility of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent claims. He captioned the video: “Throwback Video Of Natasha Akpoti Caught Red Handed Falsely Accusing Me of Sexual Harassment In 2021.”
The resurfacing of this video has sparked discussions about the seriousness of false allegations and their impact on genuine victims of harassment. Observers note that such incidents can undermine efforts to address and combat sexual misconduct.
As the situation unfolds, it underscores the importance of thorough investigations and due process in addressing allegations of this nature, ensuring that justice is served while protecting individuals from unfounded claims.
