The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has disbursed N50 million to support 250 elders in Nasarawa State. The gesture was part of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable groups, including the elderly, across the country. Each beneficiary received financial assistance to help with their basic needs, reflecting the First Lady’s commitment to supporting senior citizens.

Speaking at the event in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the importance of caring for the elderly in society. She highlighted that elders hold invaluable wisdom and play a critical role in maintaining cultural values. “This initiative is designed to bring relief to our elders, who have contributed so much to the development of our communities,” she stated.

The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her support and compassion toward the elderly in the state. He described the disbursement as timely and impactful, given the economic challenges faced by many Nigerians. Governor Sule also reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to partnering with federal initiatives to improve the lives of residents.

Several beneficiaries expressed their joy and appreciation for the financial support, describing it as a much-needed relief. One of the recipients, Alhaji Suleiman Usman, thanked Mrs. Tinubu for remembering the elderly and commended the initiative for addressing their immediate needs. The funds, he said, would help with essentials like food, healthcare, and daily expenses.

The Renewed Hope Initiative continues to make a significant impact across Nigeria, with similar programs targeting women, youths, and other vulnerable groups. Mrs. Tinubu reiterated her resolve to expand the initiative to reach more Nigerians in need, ensuring that no one is left behind in the drive for national development.
