OOU’s ‘No Bra, No Exam’ Policy Sparks Outrage Online

0

Students and advocates across Nigeria are reacting strongly to a controversial policy allegedly introduced at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), where female students were reportedly barred from writing exams for not wearing bras.

The policy—which has yet to be officially confirmed by the university administration—was widely condemned after a post from Naija News claimed students were denied access to exam halls based on their undergarment choices.

On social media, the backlash was swift. Critics labeled the policy “invasive” and “unconstitutional,” arguing that it unfairly targets women and infringes on their rights to education and bodily autonomy. Others questioned the moral authority behind such a dress code, emphasizing that academic performance should not be tied to undergarments.

While some individuals online defended the decision on the basis of “decency,” the majority response has been one of frustration, disbelief, and calls for accountability.

The university has not yet released an official statement responding to the growing outrage.
