Nigeria’s Junior Women’s Yellow-Greens have made history by securing their first win at the 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia. In a thrilling match against New Zealand, Nigeria emerged victorious with a narrow two-run win.
The match, which was delayed by rain, saw New Zealand electing to field first. Nigeria’s captain, Lucky Piety, led the team with a steady innings, hitting Nigeria’s first six at a Women’s World Cup. The Junior Yellow-Greens finished with 65 runs for the loss of six wickets in 13 overs.
In the second innings, Nigeria’s bowlers took a slow and steady approach, eventually knocking off the fourth-ranked nation for 63 runs, also for the loss of six wickets. This historic win marks a significant milestone for Nigeria’s women’s cricket team and showcases their resilience and determination on the international stage.
