In a dramatic turn of events, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has placed a six-month flight ban on popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate. The decision follows a disturbing incident that unfolded on Tuesday, August 7, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, involving gross misconduct and aviation safety violations by the artist.
According to the NCAA, K1 refused to comply with routine security checks, particularly when asked to surrender an undeclared flask containing a suspected alcoholic substance. In a shocking escalation, the musician reportedly spilled the liquid on airport staff and stood directly in the path of a moving aircraft, forcing ground personnel to take cover to avoid potential harm.
In response, Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, condemned K1’s actions as “akin to a hostage situation,” and ordered his immediate placement on a no-fly list, affecting both domestic and international carriers. The NCAA also revealed that the pilot involved in the incident has had their license temporarily suspended, pending further investigation.
Speaking on behalf of the agency, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu, emphasized that no individual, regardless of status, would be spared when national aviation safety is at stake. The NCAA has also petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to begin criminal proceedings against the musician.
