Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has once again made headlines for his energetic personality and unapologetic love for dancing. At the launch of the Dele Momodu Leadership Centre in Ibadan on Tuesday, May 13, Adeleke boldly defended his signature dance moves, telling critics to “kiss my a“** when questioned about whether governors should dance.
The governor, popularly known as the “Dancing Governor,” humorously pointed out that other political figures, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and even President Bola Tinubu, have also been seen dancing. His comment sparked laughter among attendees at the event, which was part of the celebrations for Dele Momodu’s upcoming 65th birthday.
During his speech, Adeleke also reflected on his friendship with media mogul Dele Momodu, recalling how Momodu initially distanced himself after Adeleke became a senator. He jokingly confronted Momodu during a visit, asking, “Why are you running from me? Is it because I’m a senator?” This exchange highlighted how political status can sometimes strain friendships, though Adeleke reassured the audience that Momodu has remained an informal adviser.
Adeleke’s comments come just after his own birthday celebration, further reinforcing his lively persona and approach to leadership. His nephew, Grammy-nominated singer Davido, recently praised him on the Culture Knock Out podcast, calling him the best governor Osun State has ever had, despite the mockery he has received for his dancing.
As Adeleke continues to embrace his unique style of leadership, he remains an example of breaking stereotypes in politics while maintaining a strong connection with his supporters.
