The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced a partnership with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to enforce the ban on sachet alcohol across Nigeria.
The move comes as part of efforts to curb underage drinking, public health risks, and environmental concerns associated with the widespread sale of alcohol in small sachets and PET bottles. Officials emphasized that the collaboration will strengthen enforcement, raise public awareness, and ensure compliance among manufacturers and retailers.
NAFDAC’s Director-General noted that the ban is aimed at protecting young Nigerians and reducing alcohol-related harm, while NOA and FCCPC pledged to intensify sensitization campaigns and consumer protection measures.
