Jennifer Lopez Sued for $300K Over Unauthorized Use of Paparazzi Photos.

Jennifer Lopez is facing a $300,000 lawsuit for allegedly posting copyrighted images of herself on social media without permission. The lawsuit was filed by photographer Edwin Blanco and photo agency Backgrid USA, who claim that Lopez shared two of their photos on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) without obtaining the necessary licenses.

The images in question were taken at a pre-Golden Globes party in January 2025, showing Lopez in a white slip dress and faux fur coat. She captioned the posts “GG Weekend Glamour.” Blanco and Backgrid argue that Lopez’s use of the photos was commercial in nature, intended to promote her fashion affiliations and brand partnerships.

According to the lawsuit, Lopez’s team initially engaged in discussions to settle the matter and reportedly agreed to a monetary settlement. However, the plaintiffs allege that Lopez never signed the agreement nor paid the agreed-upon amount.

This is not the first time Lopez has faced legal issues over posting photos of herself. In 2019 and 2020, she encountered similar lawsuits for sharing images taken by paparazzi without authorization.

Under U.S. copyright law, photographers retain the rights to their images, even if the subject is a public figure. This means that celebrities must obtain permission or licenses before sharing such photos on their platforms.
