‘It’s not your business’ — Yeni Kuti slams Ngozi Ezeonu over ‘no bra, no audition’ comment

0

In a recent episode of the popular talk show ‘Your View,’ singer Yeni Kuti criticized actress Ngozi Ezeonu’s comments on “inappropriate dressing” at auditions. Ezeonu had advised aspiring actresses to dress modestly, particularly during auditions, and even questioned two ladies about their decision to attend an audition without wearing a bra.

Kuti, however, disagreed with Ezeonu’s views, arguing that young ladies should be allowed to explore their fashion choices at their age. Speaking on the show, Kuti said she felt the actress’ criticism was unwarranted and suggested that Ezeonu should simply reject anyone who doesn’t meet her dress code standards instead of criticizing them.

Kuti, the 63-year-old daughter of the late Afrobeat legend, emphasized that older generations often forget their own youthful fashion choices when criticizing the younger generation. She shared her own experience of wearing tight jeans and small tops at a younger age and pointed out that the country’s hot climate might influence the fashion choices of young people.

The debate highlights the ongoing tension between traditional values and modern expressions of individuality. While some argue for modesty and decorum, others advocate for personal freedom and self-expression. This discussion is not just about fashion but also about the broader societal norms and the evolving perceptions of what is considered appropriate.
