Miss Anna-Maria Orlu has captivated hearts as the current Beauty Queen representing the United Nations in Nigeria. At just 29, this remarkable young woman from Ikwerre in Port Harcourt has not only won the prestigious title but has also committed to making a significant impact through her non-profit organization, the “Little Blessings” Foundation.
Anna-Maria’s journey to the crown was filled with determination and resilience. Out of 23 contestants from different states in Nigeria, she emerged victorious in a competition held in Florida, United States of America. When asked about her reason for participating in the United Nations beauty pageant, Anna-Maria said, “I’ve always wanted to work with the United Nations, and this platform allows me to make a difference.”
Her foundation, Little Blessings, aims to provide resources such as books, shoes, and clothes for orphans. The UN has supported her initiative, “Dream Day Out,” which takes orphans to amusement parks and kid-friendly activities where they can learn, play, and grow. Anna-Maria’s passion for helping children is evident as she continues to expand her work across various orphanages in Nigeria.
Despite her success, Anna-Maria faced numerous challenges. Moving from Dublin, Ireland, to Los Angeles, USA, to pursue her dream career in entertainment was no easy feat. She juggled multiple jobs to make ends meet and relied on her faith and determination to navigate through the tough times.
