Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State recently showcased his resilience and determination by successfully completing the Houston half-marathon in an impressive time of 2 hours and 53 minutes. Despite the challenging freezing temperatures of 1°C, Governor Makinde’s performance was faster than his previous achievement at the 2022 Berkeley half-marathon in San Francisco, California.

In a social media post, Governor Makinde expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, “Glad to have completed the Houston Half Marathon in 2 hours 53 minutes today. Though conditions were tough with freezing temperatures at 1 degree Celsius, I finished faster than the Berkeley Half Marathon which I ran about two years ago.” He also mentioned participating in a 5k fun run the day before, which he completed in 38 minutes.

The Houston half-marathon is part of an annual three-race event in Houston, United States, which includes a marathon and a 5km race. This year’s men’s half-marathon was won by Ethiopia’s Addisu Gobena, who clocked an impressive 59 minutes and 17 seconds.

Governor Makinde’s participation in such events highlights his commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and setting an example for his constituents. His dedication to fitness and perseverance in the face of challenging conditions is truly inspiring.
