Four Suspected Kidnappers Killed in Port Harcourt Police Operation

The Rivers State Police Command has struck a decisive blow against criminal activities on Nigeria’s waterways, successfully neutralizing four suspected kidnappers in a high-stakes operation. The suspects, linked to the abduction and murder of renowned Port Harcourt fashion designer Hope Georgewill, met their fate in a gun duel with police operatives.

Georgewill, the CEO of HMG Attitude Ltd, was kidnapped on March 26, 2025, along the Cotton Channel, Bakana River. Despite a ransom payment of ₦2,000,000, the perpetrators still ended his life, sending shockwaves through the fashion industry and the public.

Following intelligence gathered from previous arrests, the police launched a tactical raid on April 3, 2025, targeting the gang’s hideout in the Bonny Waterway. However, the suspects resisted fiercely, engaging officers in a gun battle. As a result, four of them suffered fatal injuries and were confirmed dead at the police clinic. Investigators recovered crucial evidence, including Georgewill’s mobile phone (SIM removed), operational speedboats, outboard engines, live cartridges, and other items tied to the crime.

This breakthrough highlights the ongoing battle against criminal syndicates that terrorize waterways, kidnapping innocent citizens for ransom. Rivers State Police Commissioner CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju commended the operatives for their bravery, reaffirming the police’s commitment to making the region safer. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities to dismantle such criminal networks.

While investigations continue, this operation serves as a stern warning to criminal elements—law enforcement agencies are prepared to protect lives and property by any means necessary.
