In a dramatic turn of events, Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command. The announcement was made in a police gazette published on Monday night, stating that Portable is wanted for his involvement in a violent attack on government officials who were carrying out their lawful duties.
According to the police, the incident occurred on February 5, 2025, when officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development were conducting an enforcement exercise in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota. The officers, including TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, reportedly encountered Portable’s father and requested the approved building plan for an establishment known as “Odogwu Bar.”
The situation escalated when Portable allegedly appeared with a group of individuals armed with dangerous weapons and carried out a violent attack on the unarmed officials. The enforcement officers sustained various injuries but managed to escape and report the incident to the Ota Area Command. The case was subsequently referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.
The police have arrested nine suspects in connection with the incident, but Portable has evaded capture. The authorities have called for Portable to report to the police station, but he has reportedly refused to comply. As a result, a valid court order was obtained to declare him wanted.
Portable, who hails from Ogun State, is a well-known rapper, singer, and songwriter. He rose to fame with the help of Nigerian rap star Olamide, and currently boasts millions of followers on Instagram. In recent times, Portable has taken to social media to appeal to Nigerians to help him plead with the Ogun State government.
