Nigerian chef Damilola “Chef Dammy” Adeparusi has revealed the emotional toll that followed her much-publicized 2023 cook-a-thon. In an interview with Instablog9ja, she confessed that social media pushed her to breaking point: “I was bullied, I was assaulted. I was broken. Social media broke me.”

The sudden fame from her cooking marathon caught her completely off guard. She revealed, “Even the cook-a-thon, I didn’t know it was going to be viral… I was shocked to see myself on social media.” The onslaught of cyberbullying and real-life harassment left her overwhelmed, to the point where she once prayed, “Can this wait a bit? Can I at least forget some things?”

While this period was deeply harrowing, Chef Dammy is beginning to heal. She has since mustered the strength to speak about the experience without tears, signaling a journey toward resilience and recovery.
