Nigeria’s electricity workers have threatened to shut down power operations across the country following the alleged assault and detention of ten Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) staff by Nigerian Air Force personnel in Bauchi State.
According to reports, the workers were attacked while carrying out official duties, sparking outrage within the electricity union. The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has warned that unless the detained staff are released and justice is served, they may embark on a nationwide shutdown of power operations.
Police authorities have confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing, while the Nigerian Air Force has yet to issue a formal statement addressing the allegations.
