Former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mike Ejiofor, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to treat U.S. President Donald Trump’s allegations of Christian genocide and his threat of military intervention with utmost seriousness.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ejiofor emphasized the need for Nigeria to immediately activate diplomatic channels to prevent escalation. He warned that dismissing Trump’s statements could be dangerous, given the global influence and military capacity of the United States.
“I think the Federal Government should take Donald Trump seriously. I’m calling on the Nigerian government to explore all diplomatic channels,” Ejiofor stated.
Trump had earlier posted on his Truth Social platform, accusing Nigeria of allowing mass killings of Christians and threatening to respond with force. The U.S. government also redesignated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) over alleged violations of religious freedom.
Ejiofor’s comments have sparked renewed debate over Nigeria’s internal security challenges and the implications of foreign intervention.
