A devastating suicide bombing rocked Konduga town in Borno State late Friday night, claiming the lives of at least 24 people and injuring many others.
According to police and eyewitness reports, a female suicide bomber detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) at a crowded food joint around 10:00 p.m., instantly killing several diners.
Emergency responders, including the military, police EOD teams, and local vigilantes, swiftly cordoned off the area. The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) has confirmed receiving both the deceased and injured victims.
Authorities say the bomber’s body was shattered beyond recognition, with only her head recovered at the scene. The motive remains unclear, but similar attacks in the region have been linked to insurgent groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP.
This marks one of the deadliest attacks in recent months, reigniting concerns over security in Nigeria’s northeast.
