At least 40 people are currently trapped beneath the rubble of a collapsed building in Abuja’s Sabon Lugbe area, the Federal Capital Territory. The incident occurred early Saturday at a construction site, drawing both emergency workers and concerned locals who have been working urgently to free those still buried under the debris.
Eyewitnesses have urged government agencies and emergency response teams to intensify rescue efforts, as the situation remains critical.
“Around 40 individuals are trapped under the rubble here in Sabon Lugbe. It’s a construction site, and we need immediate intervention to save lives,” an eyewitness reported.
This tragic event follows a similar incident in the Kubwa area of Abuja, where a two-storey residential building partially collapsed just weeks ago. In that case, four people were successfully rescued, though there were initial concerns about others being trapped. The Kubwa building was situated near Cupid Hotel on Sultan Dasuki Way.
