Lucky Aiyedatiwa has officially been sworn in as the 7th democratically elected governor of Ondo State. The inauguration took place at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, attended by dignitaries, political figures, and a large crowd of supporters. His swearing-in follows the passing of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, marking a transition in the state’s leadership.
During his inaugural speech, Governor Aiyedatiwa pledged to continue the developmental projects initiated by his predecessor while introducing new policies aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, and education. He emphasized his commitment to good governance, economic growth, and social welfare programs that will benefit the people of Ondo State.
As part of his first official actions, Aiyedatiwa granted clemency to 43 inmates across various correctional facilities in the state. This decision aligns with his administration’s vision of justice reform and rehabilitation, ensuring that deserving individuals are given a second chance to reintegrate into society.
The ceremony saw the presence of key political figures, including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji. Their attendance signified strong political support and collaboration among states in the southwest region.
