Nigerian footballer Ademola Lookman finally broke his six-match goal drought, scoring in Atalanta’s 4-0 victory over AC Monza. His last goal had come in a 4-0 win against Juventus on March 9, 2025, making this a much-needed return to form.
Despite his contribution, Atalanta’s head coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, was not entirely pleased with Lookman’s performance. While acknowledging his strong second-half display, Gasperini criticized his first-half effort, emphasizing the need for focus as the team pushes toward securing Champions League qualification.
Lookman’s goal came early in the second half, following Charles De Ketelaere’s brace in the first half. Marco Brescianini sealed the win with a late strike, ensuring Atalanta remained third in Serie A, five points ahead of AS Roma.
After the match, Lookman praised De Ketelaere’s performance, highlighting his teammate’s resilience and ability to keep pushing forward despite challenges.
Atalanta had been in the title race earlier in the season but suffered setbacks with three consecutive losses to Inter Milan, Fiorentina, and Lazio. With only three matches left, the team is focused on securing a top-four finish.
